Glass is endless!

Glass is the perfect raw material for new glass. It is eternal and 100% recyclable, without loss of quality. Glass waste is a typical example of the circular economy and proofs that waste doesn´t actually have to exist.

Thanks to the high-quality glass cullet that we produce via advanced processing techniques at Maltha, the use of 1 kilo of glass cullet ensures a savings of 1.2 kilos of primary raw materials. And there´s more: with every 10% of shard use, glass manufacturers also save up to 3% of the energy required for their production process. This leads to significant savings on energy costs and ensures a CO2 reduction of no less than 0.67 kg per kilo of recycled glass cullet used.

In addition to the glass, we also utilise the contaminants removed from the glass for useful new applications. A fine example of this is TreeSand+. With the residual waste that is released when purifying the collected glass we generate (sustainable) energy, while other contaminants, such as metals and plastics, go back into the material chain in order to serve as new raw material once again. In this way we give all of the waste a second life, preferably in endless cycles.
